• Updating of sectional info will be up on website within next 2 weeks–sectionals is Sat., Nov. 4th–also SAT testing date in the morning.
  • Slight modification on course–tree at 4k was taken out, so distance will be added down at the bottom of the hill by the mile mark.
  • Entries due Wed. Oct. 25th–fax to Bob Goodell–form is on website–or send by traditional mail. Make sure coaches understand entry procedure. 10 names can be changed up until Thurs. before sectionals-Nov 2nd. Entries and changes are due by noon.

  • Course closed week of sectionals–if you are going to visit course during the season call ahead to Marcus Whitman AD–don’t just show up.
  • Pictures for teams going to states will be a group picture with the top team and the 5 individual qualifiers
  • Handbook: in the case of mixed competition, the best team from the blend overall will represent the class in the state meet–not necessarily the top team from the mixed class race.
  • State meet: coaches of winning team will go to states. You can sign up as coach for the individuals early in the season. Winning team can take 7 runners and an alternate. There is a due date for the chaperone application–coaches need to be aware of this.
  • State Meet: Warwick–great website for the course. Section V is staying at Holiday Inn in Middletown NY (845)-343-1474–Leaving Thurs. Nov 9th in the afternoon from Eastview Mall. Next year we are at Norwood, Norfolk up north, then Long Island, then Back up to Lake Placid.

  • All coaches should stress to their AD’s how important it is to stay 2 nights for the state meet!
  • State Meet: Code of conduct has changed. Must be handed in by the athletes or they do not run. The coach responsible for the athlete must sign and be held to the same standards as the athletes–including alcohol.
  • Uniforms: Stocking caps, gloves and headbands–pre-wrap–are allowed. Must be functional–not decorative. Ribbons in hair, face or body paint are game committee decisions and must be cleared at the meet. Save yourself the trouble and avoid them. You can’t tape jewelry!
  • Federations: Week after states. Noon start. Entry procedure–submit as much info as you can about your team from October on. Intention and info must be given to Sectional coordinators by the Thursday evening before states. Dale Ladd takes care of boys entries–Bob Goodell takes the girls. Sheet for the entries is on the Section V website. Teams are on their own for this meet. Section V does not pay. Bob has a list of potential housing. Athletes must have a school-appointed coach with them at the meet.
